(EeEceived 20, 2.25 p.m.) NANKING, fcjept. 19. The Japanese have threatened to destroy Nanking by homhing and attacking "in the most serious way in order to conclude hostilities as eariy as possible hy destroying China 's chief war base." This is the first such warning in history, and represents an attempt to reach a decision hy homhing the capital out of existence, a development which is most dreaded and against which the nations have huilt up huge air forces and defensive preparations. ✓
