Mr W, E. Bate, of Hastings, is at pregent on a visit to Auckland. Miss M. Burden, of Hastings, left during the week-end for _ Wanganui, where she will take up residence. Mr W. E. Weeks, of Waipukurau, has been admitted to the Waipukurau hospital to undergo an operation. Mr Alan Grant, qf Hastings, who is an jnmate of a private hospital, having uhdergone a serious operation, is now making sati'sfactory progress. Mr T. A. Morland, Senior Inspector of Schools for Hawke's Bay, has received word that he has been promoted to the senior inspeetorship of Otago, Mr Morland will take up liis new dutie3 early in 1938. The Hon. M. F.. Bruxner, DeputyPremier and Minister of Transport in New South Wales, reached Auckland yesterday by the Aorangi. Mr Bruxner, who is acCoxnpanied by Mrs Bruxner, is returning to Sydney after attending the Coronation. The Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Labour, returned by the Aorangi yesterday after a tour abroad, which included a visit to the Coronation and attendance at the International Labour Office conference at Geneva. Dr. T. E. Vernon, formerly of Palmerston North, has accepted an appointment at Massey Agricultural College. For some years he has been in the research department of the United Dairies., Ltd., London. Mr. W. E. Anderson, seeretary of the Auckland Employers' Association, who represented the employers of New Zealand at the International Labour Cor»ference at Geneva, returned to Auckland by the- Aorangi from Van--couver yesterday. Dr. A. D. A. de Kat Angelino. who retired from the position of chief of the Departments of Public Health and Education in the Dutch East Indie3 about three months ago, is visiting Christchurch. He wili probably spend another month in the Dominion, after whicli he will go to Australia, and later to Holland.
