PALMERSTON N., This Day, The" beef market at Feilding 's . live stock salo yesterday zoomed to a higher level for female lines, tuu cows realising up to £15 2s and ex dairy sorts making.to £11. The large offering included many ex. dairy sorts in good con--dition and competition for all classes was particularly keen. Even Jersey steers which rarely make any appreciable appeal, sold firmly, the best values I'or this class of stock being £10 7s 6d. Y"oung bulloeks in good condition made up to £12 17s Cd. The sale was one of . the best yet and registered a further general appreciation in prices, saies being made on the basis of slightly over £2 per lOOlbs. Ewe riiutton made up the bulk of the entry in the fat sheep seetion and prices were fully firm at late rates. In the store sheep, .seetion the offering cqii\prised mogtiy hoggets and these sold at firm rates, with one outstanding pen of wether hoggets,. numbcring 238, which commandcd the high .price Qf 32s 5d. These were excoptionally; good sheep in wonderful conditiQn, Both the store cattle and dairy sections were represented by good entries and in both departments the business was firm. ' The fat sheep yarded yesterday totalled 1000 head, made up of over 600 ewes, just over 100 wothers and approximatelv 220 hoggets. .The quality over all was an improvement on that olTered last week and local and Wellington butchers competed with export operators for the yarding. The hoggets comprised a better quality lqt than those yaTded at recent «a"les. There were some nicely finished lines of bright woolled sheep, the quality generally being medium to good. A pen of unfiniahed hoggets in xair condition, numbering 30, sold at 26s lOd. Eight well-grown hoggets, hardly well enough finished, offered on account of T. Simpson, realised 30s 7d. For a pen of 22 nicely done hoggets, frames sold at 32s. Mixed quality hoggets numbering 19
