Reported Italian Warning to Britain

(Recexved 18, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 17. Britain this morning was regaled with another scare story — that Italj had warned Britain axxd France not to interfere in the Mediterranean with Italian sbipping or warships of • any category. Tlie correspondent of tbe Associated Press states that Whitehall discredits tbe story. It is pointed out, that there was nothing in the Nyon Conferenee agreement directed against the lawful movements of ships and warships. . It is also pointed ont that Britain doe's not propose to reply to ItalyU rejection of the invitation to participate at Nyon. The Powers concerned are remaining firm in their intention to carry out the plan, though they are willing to consider suggestions if Signor Mussolini cares to offer any. According to messages from Rome, it is officially denied that any warning was addressed to Britain or France. It is stated that the report is without foundation. j>
