Defendant Given a Warning
"He received his sustenance monoy only yesterday morning, and by last night ho had blown it all in in drink," said Senior-Sergoant G. Sivyer at the Hastings Police Court tfiis morning when Williaitt Johfl Knight, aged 42 years, appeared before Mr J. Stickland, J.P., 011 a ehargo of being found drunk in Railway road last evenixlg. "Ho is gettihg drunk a bifc too freqtientl y,Und this is his socond appearance in six months," said the police officer. "If he turns up again hero 1 will have to ask the Court to inipose a soiitence of imprisonment on him." 'I't's a pity you cannot find something better to do with your sUstena&Ce • money than to Wasto it like this," commOnted the. Bench, who issued a warning that in future there would be no lenieney shown the defendant. In this 'instance the defendant was convicted and discharged.
