.WELLINGTON, Last Night. The membership of unions of both employers and workers throughout New Zealand is now in excess of 200,000. Eoforence to tho growth of unionisln under tho lcgislation passccd last session was made hy the acting-Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. O. Webb, in a statement made to-day. He said that at December 31 last employers' uiiioiis tolalled 203, an increaso of 70J while workers' utiions numbefd 487, an increase of 70. wkile workers' unions numbored 4S7, a-n increase of 77. The total menibership of employers' unions was 6442, an increase during tlie year of 2098. The numerical st^ngth of workers' unions was 1S5,527, an increase of 104,598.
