■"WELLINGTON, Last Night. 1 When the House met at 2.30 Mr S. G. Smith gave notice to ask the Minister of Internal Ailairs if it was correct that tho Government intended 'to introduee legislation to make provision for the licensing of bookmakers. Mr A. C. A. Sexton gave notice to ask the Minister of Finance where tho Eeserve Bank got the money to advance to the Dairy Industry Acc'ount, and if it were borrowed by the bank, from whorn was it borrowed. Mr D. G. McMillan gave notice to ask tke Minister of Finance if he had read ia an AiijstraHan paper an exposure of the cash order system, and did tho Minister kuow that? companies proposing to carry on cash order businesses had recently been registered in New Zealand. He also asked th. Minister would he take action to ensure that New Zealand workers were protected from such gross exploitation. , / Rev. Clyde Carr asked leave to introduee the Timaru Loan Amendment Bill, and Mr J. W. Munro gave notice to introduee the Dunedin City Council Empowering Bill. The following Bills were also introduced a,nd read a first time: — New Plymouth Airport Bill (Mr S. G. Smith), Whangarei Airport Bill (Mr J. S. Barclay), Borough of Ngaruawahia Empowering Bill (Hon. W. Lee Martin), Ncw Pljmouth Council Empowering Bill (Mr »S. G. Smith), Wanganui Harbour Dislrict and EmpoAvering Amendment Bill (Mr J. B. F. Cotterill), New Zealand Institute of Clerks of Works Bill (Mr C. H. Ckapinan). Two days' leavo of ubsence was granted Mr D. McDougall.
