Tbe safe arrival of bis cbarges iu Gisborne marked tbe sevenance of tbe connection of Mr. Percy Day witb tbe Springboks as manager, for be will leave tbis morning for Auckland, en route for Soutb Africa. Mr. Day is tbe secretary of a leading Soutb African Turf Club and is returning home to be in time for his club's summer meeting. In couversation witb a reporter last evening Mr. Day expressed his regiet at haviiig to leave tbe team at tbis stage of tbe tour and said tbat he bad eujoyed every minuto of bis stay in this country. "Bugby tours do much to stimulate international goodfellowsbip,'" §aid Mr. Day, "aud I icel tbat tbe present tour bas.served its purpose in this rcspect. I bave eujoyed my stay in New Zealand and I bave made somo lasting friendships." Mr. Day paid a tribute to bis comanager, Mr. A. de Villiers and tbe members of tbe team, all of whom bacl done inuch to make bis trip an enjoyable one. He expressed surprise at tbe enthusiasm of New Zealand for tbeir national game and said tbat New Zealand crowds bad to be seen to be believpd. ' "1 bave found New Zealand players and spectators to be good sportsmen," Mr. Day coucluded, "and 1 will long iremenibef my tour of tbis Dominion. ' ' At h pleasant fuuction last evening members of tbe team paid tribute to Mr. Day's efficieucy. His Bervices were eulogised by Mr. Alex de: Villiers, assistaut manager, wlio, on behalf of tbe team, presentcd Mr. Day witb a tea service aud an inscribed tray. For tbe remaindcr of the tour the team will be managed by Mr. de V illiers.
