Hastings and Napier Rates Are 2/1J and 2/2i REGULATIONS GAZETTED

WELLINGTON, Last JNigtit. Iu announcxng that regulations had been gazetted controlling petrol prices in the Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay areas, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, stated to-night that the regulations merely established what the resellers' organisations in the areas coverod had been endeavouring to preserve, and a threepence per gallon margin of |>rofit had been allowed them. "I anx desirous of etabilising as nearly as possible the existing conditions within the industry, and I feel that the regulations in their present f orm do accomplish this, ' ' said Mr Sullivan. "I am satisfled that the in* troduction of the system of fixing prices of motor spirit has been of material benefit to those engaged in the industry, and it is my intention to extend the areas as soon as possible to other parts of the Bominion."
