BIG ITALIAN DRIVE Badoglio Returns After Secret Mission TROOPS & GAS WANTED

Italy is planning a vast new campaign to finish the Spanish rvar, according to the newspaper L'Oeuvrc. 1 1 Marshal Badoglio, ' ' states the paper, "has just returned to Italy from a secret mission in Spain, and it is reported that he informcd Signor Mussolini that 150,000 more men with modern
equipment including gas supplies, were needed to' effect the fall of Madrid before the weather broke. "General Franco," it is stated., "ob> jected to such ruthlessness, but Italy intends to go ahead as a retaliatiou for the agreement at the conference on piracy at Nyon." According to a Madrid message, a rebel attack in the E1 Pardo sector caused the fiercest fighting for four months on the Madrid front. Craek shock troops of moors and Falangists also attacked on the Carabanchel and Jarama fronts but their onslaughts failed.
