INFLUENCE OF THE PRESS

Subject of Debate at Ongaonga "Is tho influence of the Press harmful?" was the subject of the final debato for the season at the Ongaonga Debating Society. Good arguments wero produced by both sldes, with oecasional touches of humour. The chair was taken by Mr P. Bradley. The speakers for the aifirmative side were Mr P. ^Hansen and Mrs J, F. Bell, and the negative side was supported by Mr E. S. Bibby and Mr C, Masters, the latter side winning tho majority of votes. At the. conclusion of the debate, an amusing play-reading was presented, "Tap Three Times, " those taking part being Mesdames Bell, Bradley and Oarr and Misses Bradley, Dalton, Ruston and Wernliam. Hearty votes of thanks, oarried by acclamation, were passed to Mrs Bibby and Mrs Bell for their interest and work.
