Praiso For Mr. Nash. " Dealing with the dairy industry in particular, Mr. Barclay said there had been a good deal of criticism concerning Mr. Nash's trip abroad, but be would remind them that Mr. Nash had gone overseas carrying the responsibility for the marketing of the produce of the largest industry in the Dominion and his efforts had been eininently successful. Mr. Nash had done more than any other man to eliminare specutation in the marketing of our dairy produce. If Mr. Nash had his way, added Mr. Barclay, he would also do his best to eliminnte land speculation in the Dominion as well. Mr. Barclay referred to the narrowing of the gap between Dauisli and New Zealand butters on the London market and said this, in itself, was a great tribute to the work of he Minister of Finance. After outlining the estimated costs of production on dairy farms of various sizes, Mr. Barclay conteaded that Members of the Government -*s eide of the House were fighting a better flght for the farmer than were Opposition members, whose chief objectiv6 seemed rather to put the Government out of office than to fight for the farmer. He asserted that the position of the man on the farm was better financittlly than that of a public works employee. The Minister of Marketing at the present time, he said, was the best friend the farmer had and was tho groatest enemy of the speculator. Wliat, ko asked, had members of the Opposition done for the dairy farmer vhen the pr'ce of bntterfat was nincpence a pounui He i'elt sure that farmers to-dav v.ou'. 1 not be in favour of going back to the o'd uinepencc-a-pound days under the Ooalition Government. The House rose at 9.35 p.m. juttil' 2.30 io-morrow k' " * *1S*5'
