Wakarara Meeting The September monthly meeting of the Wakarara Women 's Institute was when Mrs. Warlow presided over a fair attendance of members. The meeting opened with the institute song and after the business had been dealt with "all members very .keenly watched Mrs. Spotswood give a demonstration on smocking for wliick she was accorded a vote of tliapks. Opportunity was taken by the president, on behalf of the members, to present a gift to Miss R. Langeson, who is leaving the district and whose resignation as secretary was received. in doing so she wislied her much happiness in the future. The roll-call for the monlh, "Maori names and their meaniiigs, " was well answered and proved very interesting. Competitions for the month resulted as follow: Jam tarts, Mrs. Spotswood 1, Mrs. Warlow 2; slippers made from ol-d felt hats, Mrs Grant 1, Mrs Barker 2, A very daintv afternoon tea was served bv the hostess, Mrs. Spotswood, after whieli all members joiued in a wall competition and two members tied for the prize — Mrs. Barker pvoving to be the winner in a 'dra-w/
