Consideration of Offer BUSES AND SERVICE CARS

WELLINGTON, Last Night. The hearing of the dispute betweeu the New Zealand Federated Drivers and Related Trades Industrial Association of Workers and the proprietors oi mmibuses and service cars on the appli-L-ation for a new Dominion awara were resumed to-day in the Conciliation Council. Mr. M. J. Reardon, conciliatiou commissioner presided. The council had met on July 2.1, 22 and 23 and adjourned without agreement ou vital questions ■iuch as hours and wages. The present award is in two parts, lealing with omnibus drivers and ser-vice-car drivers. The former have an S4-hour fortnight and the latter an 88liou? fortnight. The employers had jffered £5 5s a weck for bus-drivers, an increase of five per cent. on the present .vages, provided an S8-hour fortnighi ,vas obtained. The employees sought £5 12s 6d ,fo. ervice-car drivers, which the employers .vere not prepared to coneede, oftering 25 5s for an 88-hour fortnight. The whole day was spent in discussing iiours and wages, The employers, discussing service-car drivers, said they were prepared to agree to the present hours with modifications, provided the omployees agreed to a wage of £5 12s d.
