■■ .■■■■» —I * — * 1 Committce To Take Over Comrol Of Baths There was a full attendauco. at the meeting of the Parkvale School Coiilmittee in Hastings on Monday, Mr J. Stickland presiding over Messrs II. Spence, T. Rapley, C.-H. Bennetfc, lv. J. Davidson, H. Henderson, 11. J. Philpotfc, H. Camerou and W. 13. Roo (headmaster). The resignation of Mr O. J. Jennings, who has left tlie district, was received and accepted, and a letter of thanks is to be sent to him for his valuable services in the past. The circular letter from the Hawke's Bay Education Board regardingi the closing of the echools for the Hawke's Bay v. South Africa Rugby rejresentative match to-morrow, was received, aud it was agreed to close the schools for the day as recommended. The headmaster intimated that a good nuinber of the pupils had handed in their names as desiring to^go to the hiabch. ' lb was reported by tho headmaster, Mr W. B. Roe, thafc the daily ration of niilk to the children was proviny very popular, and that fully'90 per. cenb of the children were participating in the scheme. — lb was decided to forward a letter of appreciation to the Minister of Education for his efforts in establishing the scheme in this district and also to the Hawke's Bay Education . Board. After a brief discussion it was decided that the committee should take over complete control of the baths, and the Swimming Club committee is to be advised accordingly. A* sub-pom-mittee was appointed to investigate the position and to report on works that require attention at the baths. The headmaster reported thab the roll number was 410, and , there had been a pleasiug regularity aboub the attendance, which was Very pjood. "Ib is pleasiug to note that an expupil, Hughie Sberidan, of the Parkvale School, was suceessful in winniug a title at the recent New Zealaud amateur boxiug championships," said tbe headmaster in his report. "Not only did Sheridan win a title, but Jie was also awarded the Jamieson Belt for being the most scjentilie boxer at the tournameut. This success rnust ho very gratifying to Billy Sullivan, who first taugiJit Sheridan the art of boxing." — Ib was decided to send a letter of congratulation to Sheridan on his successes.
