Man Took Iodine Instead of Congh Medicine.

AUCKLAND, Last Night. "I find that death was due to iodine polsoning and that iodine was consumed in mistake for cough medicine con tained in a similar hottle," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, coroner, in announcing th8 verdict at the inquest on James Roger Williamson, etoreman, married, aged 59, of Mount Edcn, who died in the Auckland Hospital on Sunday. Evidence was given that the decoaso-1 had suffered from bronchial t'roublo for some time and had been taking cough mixture specially prepared for him. On September 4 he was working in the garden at his home. and while there ho took what he thought to be a dose of cough mixture, but which proved to be iodine. The bottles containing both liquids wore stated to be similar, while dOceasod also had no sense of smell. After being treated by a doctor for a week deceased eollapsed and was removed to the hospital, where he died next day from the qffects of iodine poisoning.
