Conditions were ideal for golf on Saturday and in the Wairoa Club's medal competition some good cards wero han'ded in, the outst.nnding ono being an ex^ cellent 69 by C Heslop. The" following are some of tlie scores: —
Grumitt, S2, 13, 69; R, M. Mowat, 83, 13, 70; Pomare, SS, 18, 70; G. Mowat, 79, 8, 71; Horne, 84, 13, 71;
Bauld, 91, 18, 73; Jones, 85, 11, 74. The final of the senior championship was played during tho week-end and resulted in a- win for A. E. Smith. who def eated J. W. Benson 3 and 2. Owing to the high wind bloWing during the day play was erratie at times and well below form. Smith established an early lead and held it throughout the match, being 4 up after the first IS holes. This proved too big a lead for Benson to reduce in the afternoon 's play.
