Award In West land

WESTPORT, Last Night. Complete agreement was reached today at an adjourned meeting of the Conciliation Council which met to frame an award to cover theatre employees in tho Weslland district. Mr. Ritchie, Conciliation Commissioner, presided and Messrs. Macdonald (secretary of the Canterbury Employers' Assoeiation), A. li. Sheppard (Christchurch). Emsworth (Greymouth) and E. Broken (Westport) were assessors fo rthe employers, while the orupioyees wero represented by Mr. F, Turley (union secretary, Greymouth), Miss N. Lockington and Mr. E. Anderston (Westport). The award drawn up covers theatre employees in Westport, Greymouth, Hokitika and all country towns in the surrounding districts and is considered to.be entirely satisfactory to both par-> ties, bringing wages' and general conditions up to a higher standard than exlsts in Ncw Zealand to-daj. -
