Travelling Scholarships For Journalists LATE MR ROBERT BELL'S WILL

ASHBURTON, This Day. Under the will of the late Mr Robert Bell, chairman of direetors of tho Ashburton Guardian, the sum of £5000 ^as been giveU on "trust to provide yeafly .travelling scholarships of £100 for students who have takeri their journalistic degree at the School of Jourualism, Canterbury College, establishcd somo years ago as the result of a benefaction by Mr Bell. The present bequest expresses the wish that the holders travel out of New Zealand as extensively as possible, devoting as mueh attention as is practicable under the boquest to irrigation projeets, tree-planting, improved agricul-' tui*al methods, and othcr subjects of interest to farmers. Several pictures have been bequeathed to the Robert MacDougall Art Gallery, 'Christchurch.
