MUNICIPAL THEATRE

ANOTHER DOUBLE-FEATURE PROGRAMME Anotlier double-feature programme will be presented at the Hastings Municipal Theatre this evening. Laughter and tears, comedy and near-tragedy follow each other in quick succession and bring drama and suspense to Will Rogers' rousing picture of Mississippi steamboat life, "Steamboat Round the Bend". Two unusual entertainment eiements eombine to make tlie great and moving story of "Steamboat llound the Bend." (Jno is the laugh-filied rivalry of Will ltogers and lrvin S. C'obb, Anierica's two greafcest humorists, as tlie crusty captains of coinpeting hua ts ; tlie other is tlie wistful and tender romance of Anne Shirley and John McGuire. The Britisli Dominions release, "Ten Minute Alibi," is a picturisation of the sensational stage success, which ran for nineteen months in London. It is one of the most ingenious, deftly eonstructed murder melodramas written in the past decade, and the film version is even more tense and dramatic than the play. Phillips Holmes, the celebrated Hollywood player, who came over to Kngland speeially to play the leading role, gives a liigbly-strung, nervously excitable performance as the young murderer who saves his financeO (Aileen Marson) l'roni niaking a fool of lierself over a sau.ve soeial parasite (Tlico Sbali) by sliooting the latter and manipulating the liands of a elock to cover the crime.
