ACCOMMODATION FOR NURSES
Requirements For Next 15 To 20 Years REPORT TO BE PREPARED The whole of the accommodation for nurses at the Napier Hospital is to be the subject of a special report to the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board by the Napier building committee, which is to take iuto consideration the xequii'emenbs for the next 15 to 20 years. With tho focent incfease in staff the pfesent sitting-room for sisters was found to be much too small and inadequate, and yesterdtty the board agreed tliat it should be enlq,rged to provido a spacious room suitable for t^ie purpose. A nurses' study room is also to be provided, and the board has in view the provisidn of a recreation room in noxt year's estimates. A plan of the necessary additions and alterations to the verandah are to be considered by the Napier building committee, Which has been empowered to authorise the architeCts to proceed with the preparation of the finalised plans and estimates. The chairman, Mr C. Lttssen, stated that he had received formal departmental approval for the trained staff to be housed in a separate building. The whole of the requirements for the accommodation would have to be considered. The R6v. K. B. Gosneli expressed the hope that a careful watch would be lcept otherwise the board would be adding here. and there to the nurses' home, which would lead to a large Duilding of odds and1. ends. The committee should consider the whole of the requirements for the next 15 years. Tho chairman added that he was hoping that steps would be taken to securo requirements that would be adequate for the nest 15- to 20 years.
