1NVERCARG ILL, Saturday. The death oecurred yesterday of Mr George Jaequiery, aged 53, curator of tlie Southland iMuseum, and a wellknowu botanist, horticulturist and zooiogist. Born in Wellington, Mr Jaquiery caine \o Invercargill at an early ago and spent the greatest part of his IiWliere. j Ear-ly be devefoped a bent for sclentific researbb, aud cultivated his knowledge of tree, plant and bird life till he was one of the niost widely-iutonned inen on botanical and allied subjects in tlie Doniitiion. Recently he was awarded an lionorary fellowsliip of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture in recognition of bis' work in botany and horticulture.
