KING COUNTRY BEAT AUCKLAND

-Prees Association.)

(By Teleffraph-

TE KUITI, Last Night. King Country defoated Aucklaud by 22 points to 16 after a splendid game, the score at one stage being 13—0 in Auckland's favour. Auckland made great use of tho strong wind in tlie first half but were unable to penetrato the King fountry back line later and were unable to cope with the fast back line, particuJariy I Orossman and Phillips. Cros, sman's play was wonderfully versatile. Auckland received the bail from the scrums and line-outs, but the bcaks were not impressive and the King Country forwards were superior in many departments of play. ' In the second spell, though the wind was not greatly utilised, King Country were definitely in ihe ascendent.
