Maia Wins Chelmsford Stakes Convincingly LOUGH NEAGH SCOftES SYDNEY, Sept. 12. Maia had a convincing victory iu the Chelmsford Stakes/at TattersalPs races. The pace makers early were E1 Senorita1 and Silver Standard but Maia was alwsys handy ahd he flnished strongly. Results: — TRAMWAY HANDICAP, of £500; seven furlongs. LOUGH NEAGH, 8.8 (Sheau) .... 1 Rrittle Prattle, 8.5 (Munro) 2 Might Not, 6.7 (Vickers) 3 Seventeen started, including Gold iiod and Golden Treasure. Gold Rod Uad a good position early but he was uot in the leading group at the finish. Lough Neagli seenied to be out of the race eariy but he swept to the post in a remarkable finish, winniug by three-quarters of a length with threequarters of a length between second and third. The time was 1.23, an Austraiasian record. CHELMSFORD STAKES, of 9 furlongs. MALA, 9.0 (McCarten) .. 1 Silver Standard, 9.4 (Bartle) .... 2 Allunga," 9.11 (Munro) 3 All started. Won by one and a-half lengths; a head. Time, 1.51. SPRING HANDICAP. VAALMORE, 7.8 (Badger) 1 Old Rowley, 7.2 (Lappan) 2 Osculum, 7.7 (Parsons) 3 Scratched, E1 Senorita and Golden Treasure. Won by a short head; half a oeck.
