N.Z. Amateur Tournament Ends NEW TITLE-H0LDERS

f 'GEEYMOUTH, Last Night. ! The Dominion boxing tournament, which concluded on Saturday night bef ore a large audience, unear.thed a set of new champions. Two title-holders, B. Maddern (Hawera, fiyweight) and D. Moswell (Hutt) were eliminated in the preliminary bouts, whilst B. McKay (bantam), the only other title-holder of last year a't the tournament, fought in the featherweight ciass, having to default last night to Moran, of Auckland, in the final, owing to a nasty cut over the eye. The new title-holders are:— • Lightweight: J. Collins (Manawatu), winner also of the Parisian Cup. ^ Welterweight: D. Heeney (Gisborne), winner of the Ted Morgan Cup. Fiyweight: H. Sheridan (Auckland), who was awarded the Jamieson Belt for the most scientific boxcr. Feather-weight: K. Moran (Auckland). Middleweight: Sutherland (Soutkland). Light-heavyweight: T. Lister (Ashburton). Bantam: J. Parker (Wellington). Heavyweight: E. Withell (Ashburton). The titles, which last year all went to the North Island, were this year divided, live going to the North and three to the South Island. Eesults:— - Lightweight Semi-finals. — J. Collins (Manawatu), 9.7, beat P. Kelly (Auckland), 9.3$, on points. It was a good bout, the winner being cleverer on attack. E. Davey (Gisborne), 9.7, defeated N. Fisher (Christchurch), 9.7, on a foul in the second round. Fisher looked a certain winner, being unlucky in felling his opponent jpst after the gong went. Final. — J. Collins (Manawatu) knocked out E. Davey (Gisborne) in the first x round after Davey had takeii the count to eight. Welterweight Semi-finals. — L. Huzziff (Taranaki), 30.5, beat W. Purdie (Hamilton), 9.13, on points, the former staging a recovery after being fioored for the count of five early in the bout. D. Heeney (Gisborne), 10.1$, beat E. Baker (Otago), 10.3$, on points, the winner being a more rugged figh'ter. Final.— D, Heeney (Gisborne) defeated L. Huzziff (Taranaki) on points, the loser again showing wonderful stamina. After being fioored three times for counts of eight, six and two, he held his own in the final round. Fiyweight Final.— H. Sheridan (Auckland), 7.13, defeated H. Footo (Wellington), 8.0, on points. It .was a good contest, the winner being more versatile and iinishing strongly. Featherweight Final.— B. McKay (Hamilton) defaulted to K. Moran (Auckland). Middleweight Final.— A. ' Sutherland (Southland), 11.1, beat F. Mclvor (Wellington) 11.2$, j on points after a fairly even bouth, : Sutherland hitting the cleaner and ! harder. Light Heavyweight Final.— T. Lister (Ashburton), 12.1, defeated C. Marsh (Greymouth), 32.0$, on points. The winner 's superiority was inarked. Bantam Final. — J. Parker (Wellington), 8.3, defeated M. Parr ' (Otago), 8.3, on points, being the stronger fighter. Heavyweight Final. — E. Withell (Ashburton), 12.10, defeated W. Lister (Kakaia), 12.2, on points. It was a fairly even bout, Withell showing more aggression.
