The New Zealand cricketers per- j .formed creditably in the field against Leveson-Gower 's team^ but the batting broke down, the last five wickets falling for 101. Roberts was in great form. Bowling into the wind, he swerved pwkwardly, wjth an excellent lengtn. THs morning figures were: Seven overs, one maiden, 21 runs, four wickets. Excellent catcliing again assisted the bowlers. Wallace held two fine catches at mid-off and Cowie a good oue in the slips. New Zealand required to score over 300 in just over three hours to win. The early. batsmen went for runs, lladlee and Kerr adding 60 in a littie over half an hour. Hadlee was brULant, hitting seven fours. Six wickets fell quickly on the very lively pitch. Nichols was bowling especially well. Gover capturod his 200th wicket for the second season in stvccession. Cowie passed Merritt's record of 107 wickets on the first tour.
