Havelock Businessmen Seek Improvements A LENGTHY LIST A request for & fairly lengthy list of improvements to be made in the business area of Havelock North was made to the Havelock North Town Board at its monthly meeting last eveaing by the newly-formed Havelock North Businessmen's Club. Among other things, the club asked for the cleaning of the water-tables which, it said, were in a filthy condition, the removal of the taxi-stand and a reduction in the size of the bus stand, the provision of rubbish receptacles, and the sweeping of the road regularly. The' request resulted in a lengthy discussion, the greater portion of which was taken in committee. The Transport Department, in a lctter received by the board, pointed out that the large number of deaths from aceidents called for greater publieity to bring home the need for greater caution. Safety propaganda was an urgent need, and the department asked for the co-operation of the board in displaying posters on • publie buildings and in other publie places. The board replied that it could display 12 of the. posters suggested. ' 'The cause of 90 per cent. of these fatalities is speed aiid nothing else," reraarked Mr J. J. Niraon.
