NAPIER ROWING CLUB
Satisfactory Financial Position SUCCESS AT REGATTA That the Napier Rowing Club is in a satisfactory financial position, despite a decrease in revenue for the past season, is disclosed in the annual report. The report states that the committee has kept expenditure down to a minimum, and -that the financial position is gradually improving. The beginning -of the financial year showed a credit balance of 17/4, and at the close of the season there was £3 10/1 in hand. Of the total expenditure of £94 14/5, a sum of £71 5/6 was expended upon plant, and the club is now well equipped in. this respect. A drop in receipts compared with the previous year from £111 to £97 6/11 is recorded. The club was represented during the active season at the L.V.A. Regatta at Clive under the anspices of the East Coast Rowing Association, together ! with erews from the Gisborne, Poverty ' Bay, and Wairoa .Rowing clubs. The , Napier Club was suecessful in retainj ing the L.V.A. and Harris-Hill shields, ■ and Poverty Bay won the . sculling shields, for whieh Napier did not com- ■ pete owing to the lack of sculls at the time. Three brews -also attended the Wellington Regatta in February, but were not suecessful in their classes. " This is a branch of the elub's aeI tivities which.it is hoped will be fosj tered in the future," states the rej port. "The publieity given to the j sport by this means and the exp'erienee i gained by members individually is of irimmense value to the club. It is hoped i-that -the ensuing season will see the club represented at Wellington and Wanganui regattas. "
