♦ Members of the Springbok team have created a precedent during the present tour by the manner in which they have disposed of unwanted tickets. It has been the custom of several to send tickets to hospitals. Just before the first match of the present tour, against Auckland, it is said that Danie Craven was wandering about Eden Park before dressing for the game. He happened to notice a rather elderly woman doing her best to catch sight of the field from an impossible position. Straightway he went to her and presented her with his ticket to a good position in the grand stand. It is said that the woman was so overcome that she burst into tears. Then, just before the team left the St. George for the first test at Athletic Park it was discovered that there were a few spare tickets. Five were collected from players, including Nel, George van Reenan, and Ebbo Bastard, and they were hastily sent to the, Wellington Hospital, where they were apparently disposed of satisfactorily.
