AUCKLAND, Lasfc Prosecuted under the Justices of the Peace Act, Fred Simpson admitted seven charges of false pretences in. obtaining sustenance amounting to £11 14/4 by stating thathis wife had no assets, when she had £560 to her credit in the Savings Bank. Defending counsel said that after hearing the Hon. P. C. Webb'a warning ogainst sustenance frauds at the Town Ilall recently, Simpson called at the Labour Department and confessed to the misrepresentation. He offered to repay tlie money.
