WELLINGTON, Last Night. Tributes to deceased legislators were also paid in the Legislative Council, the Leader of tho Council, the Hon. Mark Fagan moving resolutions similar to those moved in the House in respeet of the Hon. Sir Frederick Lang, Hon. L. M. Isitt, Hon. G. W. Russell and Hon. Mr McGregor. The lalo Mr McGregor was connected with Parliament through the Legislative Council only^ being a member i'or 28 ycars. He was born at Perthshire, Scotland, Mr Fagian said and was educated at Edinburgh University. He practised law in New Zealand, and his knowledge of legal practico as a bari'ister and solicitor made him a valuable member of the Council. Ihe Hon. J. A. Iianan said that the late Mr McGregor had possessed many admiral)] o qualities, and although he had rarely talien part m debates during recent years he had been a l'orceful and capable speaker. He had pioneered law reform in New Zealand and measures regardingj marriage and divorce laws that he had advocated had since been adopted in other parts of tho Empire. The Council adjourned at 3.40 until 2.30 next Weclnesday as a mark of respeet to the memory of the four late members.
