Manufacture Of Concrete Pipes Completed The manufacture of the concrete pipet? for tho borough sewer outfall systeiu was completed during the past month, according to tho report of the Borough Engineer, Mr. C. E. Evans, submitted to ihe Hastings Borough Gouncil last evening, Mr. Evans also reported on tho progress mado witli tho layiug of the pipe liue. Goncerning the making of tlie pipes he reported Lliat those dclivered numbered 17-13 iu the 442-incli (17 to bo delivered), 1110 in the 36-inch (111 to be delivered) and 476 in the 35-inch ( (17 to eome). 5 Mr. Evans reported that Ihe conIraetor had completed tho laying of tho 33-inch pipes to the point ivhere i thc sewer crosses the ruilwuy liue to reaclt Nelson street, leaving 5:1 chains to bo laid through privale property. The excavating uiacliine was tlien moved to Ihe 290 chains pcg, just beyond the wool scouring works, and tlie laying of tho 42-inch pipes was proeceded with. The second machine continued laying similar pipcs from the beach eud towards the main HastingsNapier road. Altogether last month 871 chains of pipes wero laid, of this distance 62 i cliains of 452-inch piping was laid.
