After fatally mauling its keeper, Mr. Jack Drumniett, at Parkes, an elephant belongmg to Perry Bros.' cifcus rhn atnok about thfe streets of the town, Caaising terrified resittents to take refuge behind ciosed doors. Two poUoemen attempted to herd the attimal into & yard, bnt it charged them and they sheitered behittd-a motor-truck, Whlich thb elephant attacked and damaged. Eventu&iiy the elephant was yarded by the police and CifcUs atten: dants. It will be shot to-aay. Mr. Dfnmmett was shockihgiy injufed, haVing been goffid by the Oiephant'S htige tusks aiid hhiiimbredv With its triink.
