GOLF DELAYED

Play in H.B. Championships at Waiohiki BIG MUSTER OF PLAYERS The opening of the Hawke's Bay amateur golf championships and handicap tournament under the auspices of tlio Napier Golf Club was delayed tbis morning at the Waiohiki links. An inspection of the course tbis morning made it apparent that the going would be too beavy owing to overnigbt and previous falls of rain. However, as but a vcry few light showers fell in the morning and there was a fairly strong dry witid, the course improved considerably and a start with. the qualifying rounds was made sliortly before mid-day. Considering the prevailifig eonditions there was an exceptionally big muster of players and it is not anticipated tbat there will be many withdrawals. Entries were most satisfactory and the anticipations are for many keen contests *n the eliminating rounds.
