AUCKLAND, Last Night. In recognition of his eminent services to tlie mining industry over a long period of years, i r.binet has awarded to Mr Frank Reed, of Mount Eden, a special grant pf £500, according to advice received by Mr Reed from the Minister of Mines, the Hon, P, C. Webb. For many years, until his retirement in 1922, Mr Reed was inspecting engineer and cliief inspector of New Zealand n>ines, and prgvionsly hq had lield similar positions with tlie Government qf WesteVn Australia.
