Mr. B. O. Gaiqby, town clerk at Waipawa, is at present on annual leave. Miss Mildred Hopkins, of Waipawa, who has severed her conneteion with Mr. A. E. King's drapery eoxporium in view of her approaching marriage, was met by the nxembers of the stafi; and fx-iends on Saturday evening, wheD she was preseixted with a silver teaset. Mr.' King spoke highly of the efficient service rendered by Miss Hopkins' and wislxed her every happiness and success. Sergeaxxt T. H. Dyer, IM'asterton, who is to succeed Sergeant G. A. Doggett in charge of the Dannevix-ke Police District, joined the force in 1907 and was stationed at Wellington for many years, part of the time in the district oifice. From there he was transferred to Paeroa, Thaxnes, Avhere he was constable in charge for six years. Upon being promoted to sergeant he took up duty at tlie Taranaki street station, Wellington, where he remained for four years before being trausferred to tuke charge at Masterton.
