The leader of the Committee of Industrial Organisation, Mr John Lewis, in a nation-wide broadcast, inferentially threatened President Roosevelt with the cousequences of alienating the sympathies of organised Labour. He said : "It ill behoves oue who supped at Labour's table to curse witb equal fevour Labour and its adversaries when tliey are locked in deadly embrace," He also assailed the Democrats for their failure to pass the industrial legjslation) adding: "The spectacle of mein-

President Roosevelt on Labour Day issued a statement. in the course of which he said that mistakes had been made on both sides in the current Labour disputes, due to mental distrust and bitter recrimination.
