Three Killed InU.S. Gun Battle AMAZ1NG GOAL-BREAK (Received 6, 8.45 a.m.) "NEW YORK, Sept. 4. A niessage from Springrield says that two patrolmen and one bp.ndit were shot dead and a patrolinan wounded in a gun battle with four bandits after the armed theft of a payroll of 1297 dollars. The bandits toolc xefuge in a cottage from which they fired fusillades at the patrolmen. Two bandits eseaped and one was wounded and captured. A messeige from McAlester, Oklahoma ,states that althoug'h handcuffcd Malloy Knykendall, aged 22, who was serving 75 years for robbery, made ono of tho most daring escapes on rccord i'roni Ihe State penitontiary. He wrested a rovolver from tlie guard, forced him to onter n mail tyuck, and ordered the mail drivcr to drivo at fnll spoed from tho prison yard. He released his caplives after two hours, slopped a private ear aad compclled tho drivcr of it to aet as his ebauf feur. Bloodhounds and u posse are searching for him.
