P. Peacock Wins Waipukurau Club's Finals SATURDAY'S RESULTS

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Steady rain fell for the final day of th Waipukurau Golf Club's men's open tournament. The tournament opened on the Maharakeke linlts on Thursday, and was brought to a successful conclusion on BaturdAy afternoon. Although conditions were rather unpleasant, a fairly large crowd of botb, men and wonien. followed the finalists' - in tho championship, L. Reid and P. Poacock, who beat Reid (last year's champion) on the lSth green. Their cards read: Peacock, out, 4, ,5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 3, 4, 5, 39; in, 5, 4, 3, 4, T3, 3, 5, 3, 4, 36; total 75. Reid, out, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, G, 3, 4, 4, 3S; iu, 5, 4, 3, 4, 6, 4, 4, 3, 5, 38; total 76. At tho conclusion of the tournament thc president, Mr A. M. Johnstone, congratulated the winner of the championship and the winners of the other events, and expressed " thanks to the many visitors who had participated in the tournament, to thc elub's officials, and to their helpers, who had worked so liard towards its success. • Special thanks were given to the ladies who had acted as ' ' caddies ' ' during the threc days a-nd assisted in other ways. Mr R. Dalgleish returned thanks on behalf of the visitors. Miss Johnstone, president of thc Ladies' Club, presented the trophies.
