"THE SHOW GOES ON" It is doubtful whether any star in the British film industry has a drawing power equal to that of Gracie ; Fields. She is without doubt a great ; actress. By the single force of her radiating personality, Miss Fields places her lilms in a category by themselves. In the picture, "The Show Goes On, ' ' which sereeus at the Kegent Theatre to-night. Gracie Fields is the star. , The suppprting players, one feels, are there as a setting iu which to display her talents. Certainly in their company 1 she scintillates. A number of tuneful songs are introdu^ed in the course of the picture, these ineluding "A Song m Your Heart," "My Love for You," "You've Got to Smile Wlien You Say Goodbye," and "VVe're All Good Pals Together. " As accompanist ro the star, Cyril Kitchard, whom New Zealanders ltnow wcJl from his appearance in J. C. Williamson productions, has the leading niale part. He plays it well. Owcn Nares also gives excellent support as a sympatlietie orchestra leader. As a character player this act'or sliould have a briglit futuic. Tlie supportiug progrannne, ineluding | a Govemment short subject, "Kegain- ! ed Horizon," is excellent.
