FATAL AIR CRASHES
Boards of Inquiry Set Up The Minister of Defence, the Bon. F, Jones, in a statement to-day announced that two boards of inquiry had oeen appointed to report on reeent air accidents. Both inqyiries will be open to the public and the press. In the case of an aecident in whieh the lives of Messrs Smith and Hamill were lost, tlie board will consist of Messrs W. F. St'ilwell. S.M., FlightLieutenant 11. B. Burrell, of the ltoyal New Zealand Air Force, and FliglitLieutenant A. T. Orchard. Cook Strait Airways. For iuquii'y into the aecident in tlie death of Mr F. Nathan, the board will consist of Messrs W. F. Stilwell, J. M. Ruckeridge, Senior Assistant to the Controller of Civil Aviation, and FlightLieutenant A. G. Gerrand, of Union Airways. Both Flight-Lieutenant Orcliard and Gerrand have been selected from a panel nominated by the Councii of the Air Pilots' Guild. The Cook Strait inquiry will be held at the Magistrate's Court, Wellington, on September 21, at 10 a.m. Tlie other inquiry will be held on September 22 at 10 a.m.
