(Received 4, 8.45 a.m.) SAN FRANCISGO, Sept, 3. As a result of the clash between pickets and teamsters at the shoreside warehouse recently, the teamsters have tightened up the waterfront blockade, and are refusing to handle goods moved from the dock by raii. Mr. Harry Bridges, organiser and president of the maritime affiliate of the Committe for Industrial Orgaiiisation, personally led 500 C.I.O. pickets against American Federatioil of Labour teamsters last week. The pickets grappled with teamsters, who were iiauling merchandise from a warehouse. The teamsters' union, in retaliation, placed an embargo On all cargo in the Sun Erancisoc docks. The G.LO. seeks to be the p&rainount bargainiug agency for the workers and the employer3, and the Americ&u Federation of Labour disputes thia claim. Mr. Bridges is seeking a eonference with the teamsters, but ropeated pleas in that direction have been rejected. Importers and exporters are seriously alarmed. They fear that ships will avoid San Franciseo owing to the uncertainty of the duration of the embargo. A oiessage from Atlantic City says that Mr. William Green, President of the American Federation of Labour, to-day denounced the activities of Mr. Harry Bridges. He said: "Mr. Bridges is marching inland and aitemptiilg to iinpose his will by force. He bas thereby transgressed the jurisdiction of his union. We are iighting to a finish." The executive councii has telegraphed the teamsters, pledging its fullest support.
