PARKVALE GOLF CLUB HOLD JOLLY ANNUAL BALL

All golf rules and etiquette were suspended for the evening at the annual ball of the Parkvale Golf Club fceld in the Hastings Oddfellows' Hall last evening and which was as jolly and successful as possible, the hall being well filled with dancers anticipating a verv happy evening. The hall was gaily decorated with huge punga ferns in each coirner and clusters of bamboo at each side of the windows, whicli were curtained with gold and black streamers,. Overhead were tiny coloured lights and at oue end of the hall, the words" Parkvale Golf Club" stood out in illunrinated letters. Punga ferns formed a background to the stage and aiong the front kentia palms and small trees.in pots were arranged. From the stage Les Henry's orchestra played an excellenfc pru gramme of dance music, s upper extras being played by Mr Phil Walden. A delicious supper was enjoyed by the dancers, the long tables in the supperroom being decorated with ' crystal vases of orange and yellow iceland pojjuies alternately with dainty foliage. The committee responsible for the arrangements were; Misses J. Robson, A. 1 Gilman and D. Carr; Messrs L. Ross, R. Reid and C. Henderson and Mr L. W. Wright was the honorary secretary. Among tliose present were : Miss Alice Gilman, black cire taffeta gown with gold girdle, posy of freesias at the lieck and green velvet cape. Miss Dulcie Carr, Buckingham lilac raatelasse with cow^ed neckline and double flared flounce at the hem. Miss J. Robson, ivory chiffon fiowered in autumn sliades and liaving a long sash of orange and lemon velvet. . Mrs Colin Crichton, black . mirror velvet having a fishtail basque and cluster of white camellias at the waist. Mrs H. Crichton (Wairoa), parchblistered cloque gown with flared basque and slaslied corsage. Mrs G. M. O'Malley (Wairoa), parchment needlerun lace worn with a flame sash and large flame. corsage flower. Mrs C. Henderson, black silver threaded moire taffeta evening blouse witb puffed sleeves worn with a black skirt. Mrs A. J. Jones, black organdje net trimmed with kilted frills and a rhododeudron posy at the waist. Mrs B. M. Kessell, gown of black mirror velvet trimmed with silver and a black coatee. Mrs J. Vesty, azure blue brocaded satin with touches of kenya red and handmade flowers at the neck. Mrs W. J. Carberry, gown of brown fiowered marocain with cowl collar effect of bejge. Alrs J. Redward, black georgette gown with a cluster of gold roses at the neck. Mrs B. Duke, burgundy matelasse gown with velvet sash and brown coatee. Mrs Burnett, palest blue pheasant's eye taffeta gown and a matching coatee. Mrs Norman Davidson, very deepest midnight blue mirror velvet with long sleeves and silver collar. Mrs G. Bone, dafk emerald green velvet with gold lined corsage flowers and gold coatee. Mrs R. Fraser, black _ souple satin gown worn with a coatee of fiowered satin. Mrs E. Brown, violet shimmer satin worn wjth a silver coatee and natural corsage spray. Mrs A. Morse, eau de nil s^lverthreaded needlerun lace gown and^hasqued coatee. Mrs E. Mintoft, green fiowered chiffon tunic worn over a skirt of deepest green souple satin. Mrs Lew Munro, black angelskin lace with off-shoulder epaulettes and wliite

corsage flowers. Mrs R. Grey, gold satin charmelaine with a cluster of violet flowers at the neck. Miss D. Cowan, ivory taffeta- fiowered with red rosebuds having a bustle and frills from waist to hem at the back. Miss S. Reynolds, turquoise blue taffeta with quilted hem worn with a white fur coatee. Miss B. Mitchell, flame taffeta witb corsage trimming of silver lame and crystal buttons. Miss Carter, green and black shofs rippled taffeta . trained gown and a bolera coatee with bouffant sleeves. Miss N. Horton, parcliment satiu royale with a cluster of red roses finishing the corsage. Miss G. Mills, black mirror velvet witha large spider of brilliants trimming the corsage. Miss R. Holland, black velvet backless gown with a red spray at the neck. Miss B. King, Kenya red shimmer satin with fishtail basque and sash tied in a bow in front. Miss M. Robinson, green matelasse gown and a silver lame coatee with full sleeves and flared basque. Miss D. Smith, midnight blue selfdotted satin sheer, the Corsage slashed at the back.

Miss A. Haynes, black panne velvet skirt and an evening blouse of ivory fiowered sillt. Miss L. Marsh, coronation red organdie tulle gown and coatee trimmed with kilted frills. Miss R. Kirkwood, black taffeta, the V neckline edged with a double plait. Miss B. Frost, petal pink fiowered taffeta with bouffant sleeves. Miss N. Crawford, fioral silk in autumn shades with a flame velvet coatee. Miss J. Burton, spring green needlerun lace with sash of deeper green velvet. Miss G. Love, eau de nil cloque with silver collar and silver lined epaulettes. Miss N. Carter, deep parma violet matelasse trained gown with a large bow trimimng the corsage. . Miss F. Kilgour, burgundy georgette with full sleeves and silver eorsagc flowers. Miss M. Hutton, off-wliite chantillv lace witb cowled neck and long iianging scarf. Miss E. Crawford, eau de nil moire taffeta gown worn with a basqued coatee of white velvet. Miss B. Kelly, parma violet clocuo with beR and corsage trimming of deep violet velvet. Miss I. Garnett, iobin red stiffened net trjmmed with bands of narrow velvet in the sqme sliade. Miss J. Carter, black mirror velvet, the sash being lined with silver ta'isted to show'the revcrse side. Miss M. Sanson, coronation red taffeta with silver lame collar and hutton trimming. Miss K. Pickering, azure blue selfspotted cloque with a blue velvet coatee. Miss - L. Ross, Queen's blue mirror velvet with silver girdle and silver lame trimming. Miss H. Scott, gold patterned brocade with draped wing sleeves and very full skirt. Miss Pat Reid. cameo pink matelasse gown worn with a long cape of velvet in the same shade. Miss B! Reid> daffodil embossed georgette with puft'ed sleeves and silver corsage flowers.
