SPIRITED BIDDING
Fat Ewes at Feilding Business in the fat sheep section of the Feilding live stock sale yesterday was maited by spirited hidding for fat ewes in the wool which sold up to £2 4s tld per head, several lines making £2 and slightly over. In the store sheep section the offering comprised mostly hoggets with some nice pens of good strong sheep. An outstanding line of ewe hoggets made 40s ld under keen competition. Wether^hoggets were fully firm for the good quality lots and the first of the shorn hoggets to be offered made 22s 8d. Conditions in the dairy cattle section were very buoyant with keen competition for the better quality lines. Beef was also fully firm with good prices prevailiug for the ex-dairy sorts. In the store cattle section no run cattle were offered but saies of boner dows and Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers were made at late rates. Just over 1100 fat sheep were yarded the three sections being represented by the following entries: 200 hoggets, 400 wethers and 500 ewes. Export operators were not in attendance and the bidding was confined to local, district and Wellington butchers. The quality of the offering was good and most of the sheep were in the wool. Hogget mutton was firm, wether mutfcon inclined to be easier although the sheep wero emaller, while ewe mutton firmed up, discounting skin values which contiuue to remain high.
