(Received 3, 10.40 a.m.) HONGKONG, Sept. 2. As a result of the typhoon the Japanese ship Asama Maru is ashore. Scores of Chinese were killed by collapsing houses. Streets are flooucu and fires are raging. Such was the velocity of the wmd that he observatory insruments ceased registering after the wind had reached 125 to 130 miles an hour. The waterfront is strcwn with large and small crat't blown ashore. lliese mciude 21 seagoing vessels, among them being Ihe British and ltalitVn liners Talamba and Conteverde. The Dutch liner Vanheutsz is ashore. Before going asliore she collided with the British cruiser Suffolk with such force that 12 Chinese were flung overboard. The cruiser later struck the destroyer Duehess. The German liner Gneisenau dragged its anchors for 600 yards. Several piers were wrecked and the roads are litered with the debris of houses and motor-cars. Waterfront shops are flooded waUtdeep. A building collapsed, killing 50 Chinese.
