Mr S. P. Spiller bas returned to Napier after a vacation in Sydney. Mr William C. Kemble is retiring after 40 years' service as brancb manager of the Phoenix Assurance Co. Ltd. in Auckland. Mr O. N. West, of Napier, who is attached to the Speaker of tbe House of Representatives in an official capacity, is to leave Napier to-day to commence -his duties at the" forthcoming session of Parliament. Sir Henxy Britten. Brackenbury, a noted Britisb autbority on tbe medical aspect of national health insurance, arrive in Auckland to-day by tbe Mariposa. Siy Henry will assist in tbe preparation of a national health insurance scheme for New Zealand. Messrs E. Riehard, Napier, S. J. Roacb, Maraekakaho, C. Cawston, Taradale, P. S. Plummer, Waipawa, and the Otway Cement Construction Company, Hastings, were to-day elected members of tbe Hawko's Bay A. and P. Society. Mr A. E. Carrington, district manager of tbe Australian Mutual Frovident Society at Gisborne, bas been promoted to a similar position at Palmerston Nortb. Mr Carrington was formerly.- on tbe Auckland staff, and will be succeeded by Mr H. W. T. Buckley, cbief clerk in tbe Auckland office. Mr. Harold Gatty, representative in New Zealand and Australia for PanAmerican Airways, and Mrs. Gatty arrived at Auckland from tbe United States by tbe Mariposa to-day. Mr. Gatty, wbo flew from Auckland to Honoiulu earlier in tbe year aboard tbe survey flying-boat, was recently married in New York to Miss F. Bolderbey, Amsterdam. Captain H. W. Robertson, of London, wbo is the fatber of tbe Britisb screen actress, Miss Anna Neagle, arrived at Auckland by tbe Rangitane, in the course of a world holiday cruise. Captain Robertson, wbo was for 36 years associated with sbipping lines trading between New Zealand and England, retircd from tbe sea in 1924 owing to a breakdown in health.
