AUCKLAND, Last Nigbt. A' tribute to the memory of tbe lato Mr. Justiee Page was paidsby a larga gatbering of representatives of tbe Supreme Court, Arbitration( Native Land, and Magistrate's Courts to-day. On tbe Supreme Court Beneb were Mr. Jnstice Ostler, Mr. Justiee- Fair, Mx*. Justiee Callan, and M"r,; Jnstice O 'Regan. Mr. L. K. Munro, prcsident of tbe Auckland Law , Society, eaid that Mr. Justiee Page was one of tbe DominiOn 's most dis'tinguisbed citizens. In all bis duties be bad .displayed taet, eourtesy and kindlijxess. His outstan.ding ability bad been early appreciated by tbe Bar. He bad sbown a tbordugb grasp of tbe principles of law and bad served tbe State by presiding over various Royal Commissions. Referring to tbe duties of Mr. Justiee Page as president of tbe Arbitration Court, Mr. Munro said tbat, wbile performing those duties, be must have been labouring under pbysical infiriuity. "It migbt be said that be exhausted bimself in that service," Mxv Munro added. Tbe legal profession dosired to express its fullest syxnpatby witb the relatives. "He was a man of unusual talenls, and was rxebly endowed witb judicial qualities," said Mr. Justiee Ostler, in speaking for tbe membefs of tlxe Bencb. His I-Ionour refex-red to ,Mr Justiee Page's unfailing eourtesy, quick grasp of fact, sound knowledge of law and knowledge of men wbicb bad 'given kim tbat priceless gift of going to tbe hearfc of a ease and ascertaining tbe trutb. Such lives were all too fcw, and tbe prexnature death of suclx men was a severe loss. "He, I say, was one of tbat brigbt company tliis sin-stained world can ill alford to lose," his Honour added.
