BOXING BENEFIT
Successful Club Fixture "I consider it must rank as the most successful fixture of the club," said a prominent official of the Hastings and Distriet Gymnastic Club this morning when reporting ou the benefit night held last evening to raise funds to send the team of tEree amateur boxers from Hawke's Bay to the New Zealand boxing championships. A really splendid programme of amateur boxing and wrestling was provided, many of the competitors being tho holders of provincial championships. The competitors themselves gave splendid showings and revealed an exceptionally high standard. The' big crowd, which filled every available seat, was obviously delighted with the performances and at times was roased to a high pitch of excitement. The tournament was staged by the Gymnastic Club, of which the three boxers concerned — Rex and Jack Davis and Joe Mclvor — are members, on behalf or the Hawke 's Bay Boxiug Association, and also received the assistance of the Hawke's Bay Wrestling Association.
