Sir Malcolm Campbell Sets New World Mark 127.577 MILES AN HOUR
RUGBY, Sept. 1. (Received 2, 1.30 p.m.) Sir Malcolm Campbell, who already holds the world land speed record of 301.1 miles an lieur, tP-day established a new speedboat record on Lpke Maggiore, Italy. He completod the outward
run over a nautical mile in his speedboat, Bluebird, with a single RollsRoyce engine of 2350 horse power, in 28.8 seconds at a speed of 124.72 miles an hour, and the return. run in 28.2 seconds at a speed of 127.577 miles an hour. This record therefore supersedes that whioh Gar Wood set in 1932 — 126.249 miles an hour. Sir Malcolm believes that the Bluebird is capable of even greater speed. He plans a further trial to-morrow.
