WELLINGTON, Last Night. The past uioiitk established a new record for August in dryness in Wellington.' Never before in August has so iittle rain been reeorded. It also almost reachcd the record l'or the least windy August. The sunshine figures, however, were befow nonnal owing to the prevalence of cloufl. The juildncss of the weather has resulted in vcgelation makiug vigorous growth iu the latter part of the mpnth. Tlio approximntc mean temperature was 48.0 dogrocs. The highcst maximuxu roading wun 60.0, and the lowcst 36.8. Tho total rainfall ivas only 103 points, against tlio previous lowcst of 116 points. Rain iu measurablo quantity feli on only eight days. The rainfall for the year to the end of August is about six inclies less tlian the average. The daily run of wind during August was 123 miles, against the August average of 215.
